Item description from seller

So, wait: They appropriate the sacred slipper of the Prophet Mohammed from Mecca, bring it to London to display in the British Museum, and then everyone is shocked when trouble ensues? (This one does feature drug-crazed evil dwarves, though -- much can be forgiven if we get drug-crazed evil dwarves. Though you'd still have a ways to go to beat "Tom Swift and His Giant Dirigible," which featured an evil dwarf AND a gang of demented Italian puppeteers.) At any rate, this is a near-fine 12mo in a "good-only" jacket which might otherwise have graded "very good," save for the large, 1-by-2-inch chip from top of the jacket spine, removing half the title, there. From the author of the yellow-peril "Fu Manchu" series. Retains only the Doubleday-Page 1914 copyright, but ads at rear include Carolyn Wells' "Face Cards" (1925) and "The Bronze Hand" (1926) but not "All At Sea" (1927) nor "The Crime In The Crypt" (1928), indicating a likely 1928 date for this early jacketed reprint. 293 pp. followed by 3 pp. publisher's ads alphabetical by title A-F, with the rest following to jacket verso. Reduced from $52.
