What is a Pageant? -a Pageant is a series of historical events, regal or homely, grave or gay, heroic or simple, in a country' 3 history, depicted by living representatives passing before us in processional review, accompanied by such music and suitable scenic embellishments as the theme or occasion may dictate. Pageants, masques and other entertainments of the like kind are hundreds of years old. Kings and Queens of the olden times were especially fond of entertaining rival monarchs in this style, each trying to outvie the other in splendor and novelty of surroundings. We may here mention one familiar to all students of history - the famous F ield of the Cloth of Gold - this mag nificent Pageant beingb Given by Francis I. Of France in honor of the visit of Henry VIII. Of England.
