Book appears light to moderately read and has been rebound by a previous owner in a nice red full -leather morocco binding. TEG and raised bands to spine. Binding has a few small patches of wear at extremities, a previous owner's bookplate, Merton Russell Cotes - Ye Mayor of Bournemouth 1894, has been affixed to inside front cover and a slip stating: "this artistic and unique volumn is from the well known collection of rare books possessed by Right Hon. Lord Avebury, Rector of The University of St. Andrews. This famous collector of books pronounced this his greatest treasure" has been laid in. First book by Swinburne is a collection of 2 plays. Title page states publisher as Edward Moxon & Co. Dover Street London 1860, and page 217 at bottom reads: Chiswick Press:-Whittingham And Wilkins, Tooks Court, Chancery Lane. All in all a lovely looking copy of a very early state of Swinburne's least common title. 230 pages + marbled endpapers. Seller Inventory # 002642
