nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - When twelve-year-old Mar unearths a glowing tablet in her family's frozen field, she discovers an impossible artifact: the personal journal of Frederic Greenland, a time traveler from the distant past. As a new ice age descends upon her world, Mar painstakingly transcribes the cryptic characters before her desperate family sells the device to survive.Ten thousand years earlier, Greenland embarks on humanity's most dangerous experiment-transitioning through time in a quantum displacement craft. His mission: to find the fifteen soldiers who vanished into the temporal unknown before him, and to understand why each transition propels him further into Earth's future.Across millennia, two stories converge. Mar's discovery sets in motion a chain of events that leads brilliant researcher Dr. Bial de Canadia to uncover the truth about General Terranova's catastrophic time travel experiment-and its connection to the approaching ice age that threatens to end civilization. From the collapsed farms of a freezing frontier to the quantum laboratories of a forgotten past, from the desperate tech markets of World's End to the moment when time itself exploded, QUANTUM FUTURES weaves together an epic tale of human ingenuity, environmental catastrophe, and the eternal question: if we could travel through time, would we use it to save ourselves, or seal our doom A literary science fiction masterwork that combines the climate urgency of Kim Stanley Robinson's THE MINISTRY FOR THE FUTURE with the temporal complexity of Ted Chiang's EXHALATION, QUANTUM FUTURES explores what happens when humanity's greatest achievement becomes its ultimate curse.Perfect for fans of time travel paradoxes, climate fiction, and character-driven science fiction that asks the hardest questions about our relationship with technology, time, and the planet we call home.…
