Are you not tired of discovering the rules only AFTER the bank freezes your money, the IRS keeps your refund, or Social Security sends a bill you never saw coming?
And wouldn't you rather have the exact form, the exact phone script, and the exact deadline — before anything ever goes wrong?
If you've ever worried that one routine transaction, one missed window, or one death in the family could lock you out of your own life savings — your answer is in this book.
That is what The Quiet Rules was built to do. The rules that freeze accounts, expire refunds, and trigger lifetime penalties were written for institutions — not for you. This book pulls them out of the regulations, the agency manuals, and the fine print, and translates them into calm, plain English, with every figure verified against 2026 rules: the new state laws allowing bank holds of up to 15 business days, the 2026 Medicare and IRMAA tables, the current IRS and Social Security numbers.
What you'll enjoy when you own this book:
- Keep uninterrupted access to your own money — know exactly which everyday moves get flagged, and stop freezes and holds before they ever start
- Keep ownership and control with the people you intend — handle joint accounts, powers of attorney, and transfers correctly, even after a death or incapacity
- Never miss another deadline that permanently costs you money — refunds, benefits, enrollment windows, and tax moves, all mapped to the calendar
- Act without a lawyer on speed dial — ready-to-use scripts, letters, worksheets, and checklists your whole family can photocopy and use today
Inside the book:
- Chapter 1 — The Freeze: the three kinds of "freeze," the 2026 hold clocks, and the free trusted-contact form that shortens every one
- Chapter 2 — The First 90 Days: the calm, step-by-step plan for when a spouse dies — and the "Do Not Rush" list that prevents irreversible mistakes
- Chapter 3 — The Silent Deadlines: expiring refunds, overpayment notices, Medicare windows, and the benefits seniors never claim
- Chapter 4 — The Four Documents: the papers that control your money and your care — and why banks reject them, with the fix
- Chapter 5 — The Calendar: RMDs, QCDs, gifts, and the December 31 lines that forgive nothing
- Chapter 6 — The Review: IRMAA cliffs, Roth conversions, and the rollover rules that protect (or cost) you 20% in one signature
- Chapter 7 — The Handoff: inherited IRAs, the 10-year rule, step-up basis, and the deed mistakes families make every day
- Chapter 8 — The Fine Print: seven bank legal traps — setoff, CD auto-renewal, error windows, and more
- PLUS: 20+ diagrams, 60+ phone scripts, letter templates, fill-in worksheets and checklists, a month-by-month Master Calendar, a complete phone-and-form Directory, and a plain-English Glossary
Why this book is different: other books explain the rules. This one hands you the tools. Every chapter ends with "Your Next Steps" — the exact call to make, the exact form number to file, the exact sentence to say. It's the difference between knowing about the rules and being ready.
"But is this for me?" If you're 55–80, or helping a parent who is — yes. You don't need to be wealthy; these rules hit ordinary checking accounts, ordinary IRAs, and ordinary homes hardest. You don't need to be "good with paperwork"; every tool is fill-in-the-blank. And you don't need to read it cover to cover; open the chapter that worries you tonight and act tomorrow morning.
The seniors who keep access to their money and pass on what they earned aren't luckier. They simply know the quiet rules — and now, so can you.
Scroll up and click "Buy Now" — and put every rule, form, script, and deadline that protects what you earned on your shelf, before you need it.

Store description
**Please note our transit times are from the date of dispatch.** We first started out as “The Paperback Exchange,” a chain of physical bookstores where we would part exchange your beloved books for new stories to transport you to faraway places. However, as shopping started to evolve to online shops and marketplaces, we bid our stores goodbye to become “PBShop.” This transition has only allowed us to blossom as we now ship thousands of titles to book lovers across the globe. We pride ourselves in being a community of local book lovers which allows our passion and devotion to shine in everything we do. In 2020 we not only celebrated our 20th birthday but our 1st birthday as being completely employee owned after becoming an E.O.T in September 2019. We are proud to be different and embrace standing apart on a book mountain by working from a virtual inventory which allows us to provide thousands of books that may be difficult to get for your bookshelf or your studies. Working with a number of different suppliers allows us to explore other avenues such as puzzles, sheet music and even stationery so we really do have something for everyone. Life is about being versatile in all realms of existence. If this is your first purchase with us, or you are a returning customer, we would like to welcome you to the PBShop family, for there is no friend as loyal as a book. We are a company who put our customers at the centre of everything we do as we understand the importance of reading because once you learn to read, you will forever be free. There are a whole lot of things in this world of ours that we are yet to explore, which is why we will forever inspire curious minds.…
