Item description from seller

Spoof letters from the respective chairmen of the UK and USA publishers pointing up their rivalry over who was leading the sales race for the runaway best-seller; [On Simon and Schuster letterhead]"Come on! Don't let the English beat us! Overnight, while America slept, `Catch-22' became #1 bestseller in England. To help close the Catch gap we're running this full-page ad in the [New York] Times Book Review, July 29th. Over the top ,Yanks!" Together with an off-print or mock-up of the advertisement in broadside format. "And now from England a new rush of applause for JOSEPH HELLER'S CATCH-22" with excerpts from numerous glowing reviews including from Graham Greene and Philip Toynbee. Folded once for mailing and lightly creased but a nice copy of a scarce piece of ephemera.
