You don't have to be an extrovert to be a brilliant speaker.
As an author or creative, you know the world demands more visibility than ever. Festivals, conferences, podcasts, panels — the opportunities are everywhere. But what if the thought of standing in front of an audience makes you want to hide in a quiet room with a good book?
I'm a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author, an award-winning creative entrepreneur, and a professional speaker who has graced stages around the world — from the London Book Fair to conferences across multiple continents. I'm also an introvert.
In this comprehensive and practical guide, I share everything I've learned over a decade of professional speaking — proving that introverts don't just survive on stage, they can thrive.
Inside, you'll discover:
- How to find your authentic speaking voice instead of faking an extroverted persona
- Practical strategies for managing your energy before, during, and after events
- How to craft compelling talks, create awesome slides, and captivate any audience
- Tips for tackling anxiety and growing real confidence — not just performing it
- How to get speaking work, set your fees, and build a profitable speaking business
- Ways to create multiple streams of income from your speaking, including books, courses, and consulting
- Marketing strategies including content marketing, email lists, and building your speaker brand
Whether you're preparing for your first reading at a local bookshop or building a professional speaking career alongside your creative work, this book gives you a clear, introvert-friendly roadmap to get there.
Includes ready-to-use templates: a pre-speaking booking sheet, event checklist, reflection questions, and a sample sales page.
Stop waiting until you "feel ready." Start speaking on your own terms.
