About this Item
Macmillan, 1966, New York. Hardcover. Book Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. Stated "Second Printing, 1966". 9-3/8" tall, 528 numbered pages includes "References" & "Index"; one-piece black binding, gilt lettering on front board and spine; photographic end pages (front=Paris Exposition, 1900; rear is a parade of soldiers marching off to battle greeted by several ladies); fore edge is trimmed. Book is square, binding perfectly clean, hinges tight, corners not bumped, no dings on edges, head of spine very lightly creased; tiny barely penetrating stain on bottom edge, FFEP to the "Foreward"; owner's name/date/city inked on back of FFEP. The interior is decent: it is clean and free of stains, or discolorations of any sort or paper damage of any type; paper is very lightly toned, very flexible and not at all brittle; inked marginal notes (virtually all are in Chap. 3, "End of a Dream") and some underlining throughout, both type of markings in ink; because of its bulk, the text black has fallen slightly, causing a valley in the upper 1/3 of the spine. Jacket is reasonably clean; no tears, folds or fading; no scratches or scrapes; publisher's original price of "$7.95" listed on the upper right corner of front flap (below it, in ink, is the discount price of $5.81); jacket had masking tape, since removed, along all edges and at both fore edges and the entire spine; that tape has slightly darkened those ares where it was placed (see photos of jacket). Condition of book and jacket consistent with being read and enjoyed. Except for what is mentioned above, no other discernible or objectionable faults on book or jacket such as marks or writing within, stains, tears, chips, or other damage that would diminish its appearance. No remainder mark, no previous owner markings or inscriptions, not price clipped, not a book club edition, not a former library book. Seller Inventory # BMR-2022-5-9-2
