Print on Demand. This book delves into the cultural and literary history of the Western United States, spanning from its early settlement phase to the mid-19th century when the region began to establish its own distinct literary voice. The author examines the challenges faced by early Western writers who sought to establish a literary scene in a region preoccupied with material needs and reliant on the dominant literary norms of the East Coast. Overall, this book provides valuable insights into the development of a regional literature and its role in reflecting the cultural and historical identity of a region undergoing rapid transformation. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…
