Item description from seller

Print on Demand. This book investigates protective inoculation against Asiatic cholera. It starts by reviewing methods of protective inoculation that had been attempted before the book was written, such as subcutaneous injections and ingestion of killed cholera bacteria. Then, the author shares the results of their own experiments with cholera inoculation using dead and live bacteria, with various strains of cholera bacteria, and with different methods of inoculation. The author concludes that no satisfactory form of protective inoculation against cholera had yet been established, but that subcutaneous injection of dead bacteria produced a less severe local reaction than live bacteria. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.
