4-page bi-fold pamphlet on pink newsprint paper, folded into thirds. Small amount of chipping to the fore edge and very slight separation at one fold. Item of political propaganda pushing for the creation of Nesmith County in western Oregon. The namesake of the proposed new county was James Willis Nesmith, a US Senator and a US Representative for Oregon between 1861-1875. He died in 1880. In 1910, there was an initiative petition to create a new county in western Oregon, carving land out of Douglas and Lane Counties. The language on the ballot read: "A bill for an act to create, the County of Nesmith out of a portion of the northern part of Douglas County and the southern part of Lane County; providing for its organization, fixing the salaries of the officers thereof, and for adjusting finances between the three counties. --- Vote YES or NO." The ballot measure was defeated. This pamphlet argues for the creation of Nesmith County in part to provide better representation for the citizens of the new county. The back page provides a series of statistics of the land acreage and valuations for those lands extracted from Douglas and Lane Counties to form the new county. No place, no author or printer noted. 2 copies in OCLC as of December 2021. ; 4 pp.
