Praise for The Prophet's Pulpit: Commentaries on the State of Islam, The Trilogy
“Dictators and apologists for authoritarianism and imperialism will hate these books; supporters of freedom, human rights, democracy, and Islamic reform will embrace these magisterial tomes.”
Nader Hashemi, Director, Alwaleed Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding, Georgetown University.
“A sublime read, but also an urgent one…Abou El Fadl reclaims an Islam that is, at once, a source of spiritual nourishment, a template of justice, and a roadmap for redemption.”
Khaled A. Beydoun, law professor and author American Islamophobia: Understanding the Roots and Rise of Fear.
“The Prophet’s Pulpit trilogy offers a lifetime of spiritual wisdom and ethical exhortation by one of the leading Muslim thinkers and academics of our time…this compilation of sermons holds out the possibility that jumu‛a can once again fulfill its purpose of awakening Muslims and inspiring them to bold, ethical, and spiritually fulfilling action.”
Asma Sayeed, Associate Professor; Program Director of Islamic Studies, UCLA.
“This transformational trilogy of sermons is a must for every Muslim home.”
Yahya Birt, Research Director, Ayaan Institute, London.
In this collection of twenty-six Islamic sermons, Khaled Abou El Fadl, distinguished law professor and classically trained Islamic jurist, delivers incisive commentaries on the current state of Islam and the Muslim world from the symbolic pulpit of the Prophet of Islam. Part Qur’anic exegesis and part socio-ethical commentary, this third volume to the series expands upon the learning from Volumes I and II and adds new sections on sacred space and sacred time, modern case studies, and shaping the future of Islam.
