Item description from seller

Wrappers. A very good, fresh copy of the January, 1927 issue of The Atlantic Monthly. Contains a short story by Rudolph Fisher, The Promised Land, a rare appearance by a Harlem Renaissance author in a leading mainstream magazine of the period. Spine is not worn, overall appearance of the issue is excellent, one very small tear at bottom edge of rear wrapper. Fisher was the author of two novels, The Walls of Jericho and The Conjure Man Dies, both set in Harlem.
