Neuware - They promised to come back. They never promised it would be easy.At seventeen, Maren Cole and Eli Hendricks stood in an old lakeside boathouse and made a vow that seemed simple at the time: no matter where life took them, in ten years, they would return to this exact place, together. Then Maren's family moved three thousand miles away, and the promise became the only thread connecting two lives that grew up, grew apart, and grew into people the other had never met.Ten years later, Maren keeps her word and finds Eli waiting, exactly as promised. But coming home reopens more than old feelings. Buried beneath their teenage romance is a secret their families kept for a decade: a betrayal, a debt, and a grief neither of them saw coming. The truth threatens to unravel everything they're trying to rebuild, forcing them to decide whether love that started as a childhood promise can survive as an adult choice. The Promise We Made is a sweeping second-chance love story about the vows we make before we know what they'll cost and the harder, quieter promise it takes to actually keep them. Some promises take ten years to keep. They promised to come back. They never promised it would be easy.
At seventeen, Maren Cole and Eli Hendricks stood in an old lakeside boathouse and made a vow that seemed simple at the time: no matter where life took them, in ten years, they would return to this exact place, together. Then Maren's family moved three thousand miles away, and the promise became the only thread connecting two lives that grew up, grew apart, and grew into people the other had never met.
Ten years later, Maren keeps her word and finds Eli waiting, exactly as promised.
The right ones take a lifetime.
