Synopsis:

Britain in the near future is recovering from the effects of a nuclear bomb dropped in error by Russia over Kent five years previously during a brief World War III. The country is bankrupt and the unity government under conservative Prime Minister Richard Askew collapses. In the run up to elections which the far right-wing New Britain party under John Atkins may win, ex-Met police officer, now private investigator, Alex McIntyre takes on a fateful commission during which he thinks he overhears the murder of a woman in Belgravia.
