Print on Demand. This book analyzes the moral principles of conduct and guides the reader toward establishing their own system of morality through a process of self-evaluation and self-examination. Rather than defining morality by religious or traditional standards, the author encourages the reader to consider the intentions behind an action and to assess its worthiness by considering the satisfaction or dissatisfaction one may experience in retrospect. By exploring concepts such as the social, legal, and religious sanctions that govern behavior, the author challenges the notion that morality is determined by external influences, arguing instead that our internal moral compass should be our guiding force. Thought-provoking and accessible, this book provides a framework for understanding ethical dilemmas and making informed moral decisions in our increasingly complex world. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…

- Ethics
In this edition, the author explains the aims of the work, its relation to religion, and how morality can be studied as an independent subject. The emphasis is on applying moral ideas to real life, with chapters that explore the sources of our moral judgments, how they are formed, and how they can be improved. The result is a work that connects theory with practice, and that invites readers to examine their own beliefs in light of practical consequences.
- How morality differs from other calls to action and why that matters in daily life.
- What the moral sentiment is, and how its claims to authority can be justified.
- How our sense of right and wrong develops, and how to educate it for better judgment.
- A practical test for evaluating conduct and applying moral ideas to real situations.
Ideal for readers of philosophy, ethics, and anyone seeking a clearer, more usable approach to moral questions in everyday life.
