Revised and enlarged. Original quarter calf with gray cloth boards. Heavy wear to edges and hinges of spine. Scuffed and stained, with minor pest damage to rear hinge. Penmanship practice on pastedowns and flyleaf. Pages are tanned and foxed, but generally unmarked. The book is organized in two parts and ten chapters, including articulation, accent, emphasis, inflection, modulation, reading poetry, reading exercises, lessons in reading, poetry, and dialogues. The Reverend Salem Town, L.L.D. was born in Belchertown, Massachusetts in 1779, was educated at Middlebury College, and taught in New York state for forty years. Hardcover, acceptable condition. 432 pages, 12mo.
