Progressive Electronic Keyboard Method: Book 1 by Gary Turner is a beginner-friendly electronic keyboard instruction method for children, teenagers and adults learning independently or with a teacher. Using a carefully graded, lesson-by-lesson approach, it introduces essential playing techniques, music-reading skills and practical keyboard knowledge in a clear, accessible format.
The method includes more than 50 well-known songs integrated throughout the lessons to reinforce new concepts through enjoyable, practical playing. It is supported by online media and includes a poster together with keyboard stickers to assist with note recognition and familiarisation with the instrument. The content uses standard music notation and helps learners understand both how to read music and how to use an electronic keyboard while progressing at a comfortable pace.
Its gradual progression encourages steady improvement without overwhelming new players. By combining familiar melodies with carefully sequenced exercises, the method helps strengthen reading skills, coordination, rhythm and musical confidence while keeping practice engaging and rewarding. It also serves as a useful resource for classroom teaching, private lessons and home study.
Designed to support consistent practice, the lessons build naturally from one topic to the next, allowing learners to reinforce new techniques before moving forward. The combination of progressive instruction, familiar melodies and practical exercises helps maintain motivation while encouraging steady musical development at a comfortable pace.
Whether purchased for personal learning, music education or as a thoughtful gift for a new keyboard player, this method offers a practical introduction to electronic keyboard playing.
