Dissected wooden jigsaw puzzle with 8 hand coloured wood engravings 460 x 180 mm., together with the black and white key sheet to the puzzle, together with the 16 page explanatory booklet in original wrappers. The whole contained in the original mahogany box with original hand coloured engraved label. Three small lugs are chipped off, two pieces and one side of the box have been restored. A fine example of a scarce puzzle. The V&A has the only other recorded copy [with 33 pieces to our complete in 34 pieces], albeit the puzzle only without box, key sheet or booklet. The present example has the booklet dated 1808 and the box dated 1809; the booklet was also issued separately with the illustrations bound in. Seller Inventory # 43410
