Item description from seller

The popular sequel to Bunyan's renowned Christian allegory retaining the charm and profundity of the original, in full decorative calf boards, The Progress of the Pilgrim Good-Intent, in Jacobinical Times, a popular sequel to the John Bunyan's Pilgrim's Progress, written by Scottish writer Mary Anne Burges, with an introduction by her elder brother and Member of Parliament James Bland Burges. The ninth edition, published in 1814. First published in 1800. In full decorative calf boards. Contains publisher's original advertisements to the rear. Following the great-grandson of John Bunyan's protagonist 'Christian', this intriguing sequel follows 'Good-Intent' and has the same allegorical charm as the original. The book went through several editions on both sides of the Atlantic, and this ninth edition is among the first to receive an introduction from her brother. In full decorative calf boards. Externally, smart, with the odd faint mark. A small graze to top extremity of rear board. Minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine, and to the extremities. Orange end papers are bright and clean, with minimal wear to front end paper hinge. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with minor age toning and spotting, mostly to first leaves. Very Good.
