Softcover 192 pages, 162 illustrations in VG minus condition with scuffs to covers and extremely heavy annotation from the pen of the late great Jill Johnston (1929-2010), cultural, literary and dance critic, radical lesbian feminist and champion of the avant-garde, and it bears her distinctive stamp in blue ink (in addition to her pencilled initials) on the title page which reads "Write first. then live." J.J. The notes covering the inside front cover and half-title page do not relate to the book itself but rather constitute a journal entry when JJ's actual journal was not at hand, while those on the title page refer to specific pages in the text where there also appear diacritical marks on nearly every page.
