Program incorprates drawings and handwrtten "foreplay" text, cast list, and production notes. Additionally includes slipped in March 21, 1969, New York Times clipping describing nude performance of "Che!" by actor Paul Georgiou, written by Henry Raymont. "A young policeman watched in disbelief as the lanky, bearded actor stepped out of a black limousine wearing nothing but an Uncle Sam hat and a red, white and blue sash strung around his waist. The actor, Paul Georgiou, crossed the sidewalk into the 120-seat off-Off Broadway Free Store Theater at 14 Cooper Square, where a well-dressed audience paid $10.50 each Saturday night to see the opening of a new play, 'Che.' Since he was playing one of the leading roles, the President, he had to remain in his costume for two hours. The young policeman shrugged his shoulders when he was asked if walking about nude in New York streets was no longer considered a legal offense: 'The courts have ruled that there has to be intent to shock before we can act.' ? But the opening-night audience was more receptive, and after the President shot Che at the end of the play, it broke into applause and shouted 'author' until Mr. Raphael appeared for a bow. The producer and director of 'Che!' is Ed Wode, who said he was also financing the production. In the audience, there were critics and theater people who considered the play to represent a new test of what the authorities will tolerate on the stage. They regarded the play as a possible guideline for 'Oh Calcutta,' an erotic revue planned for production here by the English drama critic Kenneth Tynan. Reports indicate that the revue is to include actual sexual intercourse. Deputy Inspector Joseph Fink, whose Ninth Precinct holds jurisdiction over the East Village and who has a patrolman at the Free Store Theater, said that the District Attorney's office would have to make its own assessment of the virtue of he play this week. 'We have no intention of acting as censors,' he said in an interview. 'This is a problem the Supreme Court couldn't agree on, so please don't ask us to rule on what is art or how far it can go before it becomes hard-core pornography. Specific Object is a gallery, bookstore, and think-tank dedicated to art post 1958 - specifically pop, Fluxus, minimal and conceptual - with an interest in the art that informed the 1960s and 1970s, as well as artists whose works organically followed from the era. Specific Object is always interested in purchasing artwork as well as used books, ephemera and other objects of interest. Specific Object works to isolate distinct works of value - historically, monetarily and / or intellectually valuable - and show them in isolated contexts, allowing these works, or objects, their own place, space and time. The material Specific Object presented ranged from artists' publications, ephemera, prints, multiples and other editions to literature, music / audio works and unique artworks of the contemporary world. In November 2004 Specific Object acquired the inventory of Barbara Moore's bookstore Bound & Unbound. Through her bookshops Bound & Unbound and its predecessor Backworks, founded in 1976, Moore has been a seminal and innovative champion of artists working in alternative mediums. From 1998 through 2004 David Platzker was the Executive Director of the non-profit institution Printed Matter, Inc. He is also the co-author, and co-curator - with Elizabeth Wyckoff - of "Hard Pressed: 600 Years of Prints and Process" (International Print Center New York & Hudson Hills Press, 2000); and - with Richard H. Axsom - the book and exhibition entitled "Printed Stuff: Prints, Posters, and Ephemera by Claes Oldenburg : A Catalogue Raisonné 1958-1996" (Madison Art Center & Hudson Hills Press, 1997), which was awarded the George Wittenborn Award for Best Art Publication of 1997 by the Art Libraries Society of North America. He has curated exhibitions of the works of Art & Project, John Baldessari, Marcel Broodthaers, Documenta 5, Conceptual Art, Marcel Duchamp, Donald Judd, John McLaughlin, Bruce Nauman, Oldenburg, Raymond Pettibon, Dieter Roth, and Edward Ruscha in addition to commissioning or curating exhibitions at Printed Matter of Angelblood, Larry Clark, Erin Cosgrove, Meg Cranston, General Idea, Jenny Holzer, Reverend Jen, Allan Kaprow, Yoko Ono, Ryan McGinness, Sonic Youth, Tom Sachs, David Tremlett, Richard Tuttle and the Guerrilla Girls. Platzker was also the host of WPS1.org's Recorded Matter online radio program. Archived programs can be found at www.artonair.org. His writings have been included in Claude Closky: Hello And Welcome, I Love John Giorno, Jonathan Monk: In Relief (My Collection of Sol LeWitt Books - Exact Size, Shape and Occasionally Colour), 2015. From 2013 through 2018 Platzker was Curator of Drawings and Prints at The Museum of Modern Art, New York, where he curated the exhibitions "There Will Never Be Silence: Scoring John Cage's 4'33"" with Jon Hendricks; "Sites of Reason: A Selection of Recent Acquisitions" with Erica Papernik; "Gilbert & George: The Early Years; and Adrian Piper: A Synthesis of Intuitions, 1965 - 2016" with Connie Butler and Christophe Cherix. He authored essays for the catalogues "Yoko Ono: One Woman Show, 1960-1971," "Louise Lawler : Receptions," "Being Modern: Building the Collection of The Museum of Modern Art," and the critical theory volume "Art and Theory of Post-1989 Central and Eastern Europe: A Critical Anthology" (MoMA Primary Documents). His additional MoMA publications include the vinyl LPs "There Will Never Be Silence," "The Thoughts of Gilbert & George," and "Antonio Dias: The Space Between" as well as the artists' books "Yoko Ono: Grapefruit" and "The Conquest of Space: Atlas for the Use of Artists and the Military" by Marcel Broodthaers. Right of withdrawal
If you are a consumer you can withdraw from the contract in accordance with the following. Consumer means any natural person who is acting for purposes which are outside his trade, business, craft or profession.
Information regarding the right of withdrawal
Statutory right to withdraw
You have the right to withdraw from this contract within 14 days without giving any reason.
The withdrawal period will expire after 14 days from the day on which you acquire, or a third party other than the carrier and indicated by you acquires, physical possession of the last good or the last lot or piece.
To exercise the right of withdrawal, electronically fill in and submit a clear statement on our website, under "My Purchases" in "My Account". We will communicate to you an acknowledgement of receipt of such a withdrawal on a durable medium (e.g. by e-mail) without delay.
To meet the withdrawal deadline, it is sufficient for you to send your communication concerning your exercise of the right of withdrawal before the withdrawal period has expired.
Effects of withdrawal
If you withdraw from this contract, we will reimburse to you all payments received from you, including the costs of delivery (except for the supplementary costs arising if you chose a type of delivery other than the least expensive type of standard delivery offered by us).
We may make a deduction from the reimbursement for loss in value of any goods supplied, if the loss is the result of unnecessary handling by you.
We will make the reimbursement without undue delay, and not later than 14 days after the day on which we are informed about your decision to withdraw from this contract.
We will make the reimbursement using the same means of payment as you used for the initial transaction, unless you have expressly agreed otherwise; in any event, you will not incur any fees as a result of such reimbursement.
We may withhold reimbursement until we have received the goods back, or you have supplied evidence of having sent back the goods, whichever is the earliest.
You shall send back the goods or hand them over to Specific Object / David Platzker, New York, New York, U.S.A., without undue delay and in any event not later than 14 days from the day on which you communicate your withdrawal from this contract to us. The deadline is met if you send back the goods before the period of 14 days has expired. You will have to bear the direct cost of returning the goods. You are only liable for any diminished value of the goods resulting from the handling other than what is necessary to establish the nature, characteristics and functioning of the goods.
Exceptions to the right of withdrawal
The right of withdrawal does not apply to:
- The delivery of newspapers, journals or magazines with the exception of subscription contracts; and
- The supply of digital content which is not supplied on a tangible medium (e.g. on a CD or DVD) if you accepted when you placed your order that we could start to deliver it, and that you could not withdraw once delivery had started.
Shipping terms
