Drawing on decades of experience with over 200 companies and more than 75 private equity firms, Lanier exposes why so many promising businesses stall, sell for less than they could, or collapse under the weight of their own growth. He offers a proven blueprint and a resourceful toolbox for honing the unique value proposition, capturing market share, and outmaneuvering industry “Goliaths.”
This is the playbook for business owners keen to double their company, achieve operational excellence, attract prime talent, and corner the attention of financial and strategic suitors for legacy succession with confidence.
This book helps you:
- Apply the Nine Universal Truths to predictably increase enterprise value
- Reduce risk through disciplined strategic planning and execution
- Develop inspired, accountable teams who confidently scale the business
- Strengthen your value proposition with objective customer evidence
- Bridge your customers’ needs to the value of your solution
- Anticipate operational capacity so growth never overwhelms capability
- Identify the “silent killers” that erode profitability and valuation
- Compete—and win—against larger, better-resourced competitors
- Effectively execute years in advance to facilitate premium exit options
Through candid stories, hidden-in-plain-sight patterns, and practical frameworks, Lanier helps CEOs and their teams avoid the most common and costly traps: seller’s remorse, operational strain, weak succession planning, customer dissatisfaction, and the myth of the heroic salesperson who “saves” the quarter yet unintentionally hurts the business.
Whether you are scaling toward a future exit, regaining momentum after setbacks, navigating investor expectations, or building a company that can thrive without you, Profit Rainmaking is your field guide for building a resilient company with loyal customers, exceptional operations, and inspired teams.
For the Davids and Davidas of the business world—those who fight every day to compete, grow, and win—this book shows you how to make profits rain, on purpose and on demand.
