A guide to professional decorative painting, this book attempts to teach designers and decorative painters how to make effective use of special paint techniques in interiors. The book gives instruction and step-by-step illustrations of over 50 glazing, graining and marbling techniques and provides essential information for running a successful practice. All of the techniques are of a professional caliber, yet are easy to do and use readily available paints and tools. The authors also attempt to teach the reader how to analyze a surface to render any substance in faux. The section on professional practice - which includes tips on starting a business, working with clients, setting a billing rate, drafting a letter of agreement, and the decorative painting process - makes this book a tool that can be used by both professionals and newcomers to this popular field of art.
