Synopsis:

While growing up in 1930s Venice, Niles O'Hara, son of an expatriate writer, befriends a young Venetian boy, Giangiacomo Gallieni, and after the war, when Niles and his family return to Venice, he becomes involved in a semi-affair with his childhood friend.
