About this Item
Brilliant chromolithographic label. Measuring 5¼" x 16". Illustrated with two vignettes of African-Americans, cultivating the cane ("A Bit of Dixie") and preparing it in a vat over a fire ("Ye Little Log Cabin"), and one of a traditional plantation house among the pines. Rubbed and with several creases from use, but a very good example. While Southern Plantation Brands was introduced in the early 1920s, the foundation of the Cane Growers Co-Operative Association dates back to the early 1890s (*Report of the Agriculture of the State of Georgia Embracing the Years 1881 and 1882*, page 10).
