Print on Demand. This book is a record of the 1862 Baptist State Convention held for the North Carolina Baptist community during the American Civil War. The proceedings include reports from attending churches on their contributions to the pastor's salary, ongoing local missionary activity, and financial assistance given to soldiers and their families in light of the ongoing conflict. The book is a valuable historical document that gives insights into both the religious affairs of the Southern Baptist community in North Carolina and the social impact of the Civil War on its residents. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.

At the time of his death, he was pastor of the Church in Goldsboro'; and the members of that Church can testify to the zeal which characterized all his labors. For though but a young man he possessed qualities of head and heart, which gave him prominence among his brethren, and made him in many respects what an ambassador for Christ out to be.
