Print on Demand. This book examines the questions and uncertainties that can profoundly determine our understanding of existence, a state the author refers to as "problems." The author considers how these problems arise not only from sensational encounters but also through analytical reasoning. The author discusses various philosophical positions, from ancient dilemmas to contemporary discourse, then suggests that addressing these problems earnestly is what distinguishes an ordinary person from a "student" - an earnest thinker. The work notably asserts that problems rooted in experience prompt us to seek systematic and harmonious explanations for existence, and that this pursuit is the foundation of all philosophical inquiry. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. His essay appeared during the current year in the March, April and May numbers of Ada the monthly periodical of the students of Victoria University, Toronto. The necessary limitations of space, and the fact of writing for a general class of readers, together contributed to mould to a considerable extent the form Of the essay, and to render more extended and detailed discussion of many points impossible. The same facts also account for the absence of all references to the history of philosophy. These lacks, however, are, I trust, not of such a nature that they interfere with either the clearness of the thought or the. Adequacy Of the support adduced for the positions taken. A. H. A.
