Paperback. Earth is a penal colony, the Australia of the galaxy. If you mess up, the Galactic Guild puts you there. But every planet, even Earth, is monitored to see if they advance enough to join the galactic system. Fipjah has been assigned to witness Earth as a punishment - for falling in love with Adalyn, an inhabitant of the last planet he observed. Strictly against the Guild's most important rule - only to observe. not to be seen, let alone interact, or fall deeply in love. He is exiled to orbit Earth for a minimum of one million years, observing and recording everything that happens there. No time off for good behavior.Even for Fipjah's kind, who live a long, almost immortal, lifespan, a million years can feel long. Plenty of time to ponder Earth's achievements and failures and some universal questions as well. Only a few hundred years into the sentence, having observed some notable moments in Earth's history but far from the project's end, his solitaire orbit ends suddenly when his spaceship is shot down by a radical faction of Earth's inhabitants.Follow the adventures of Fipjah as he negotiates with his captors and learns their true motivation for detaining him. Will he help humanity escape the confines of this prison planet? An epic science fiction story with surprising twists, existential questions, adventure and romance. Full of insights about what we are and hope for what we can be. This item is printed on demand.
