Synopsis:

Prioritisation is an important part of any risk management process because it focuses on what matters most. What matters most depends on the context and varies from one stakeholder to another and changes during the course of a project, from one phase to another. This concise guide shows how an understanding of the purpose of prioritisation is the first step towards effective risk prioritisation. Section four describes a variety of risk management techniques that will help practitioners and also students. This short and concise book has been written as a complementary volume to the current standard in project risk management, the APM s Project Risk Analysis and Management (PRAM) Guide 2nd edition, which is available from the Association for Project Management at www.apm.org.uk/PRAMGuide

About the Author: This Guide is the outcome of work undertaken by the Risk Prioritisation Group which is associated with the APM s Risk Management SIG (Specific Interest Group). The Risk Prioritisation Group consists of project risk management professionals from a variety of backgrounds, including people whose experience has been gained in larger companies, the public sector, academia, consultancy and also risk tool developers. The editorial committee includes: Martin Hopkinson (HVR Consulting Services Ltd), Paul Close (Fujitsu Services), David Hillson (Risk Doctor & Partners), Stephen Ward (University of Southampton). Other group members are: Gordon Barr (HVR Consulting Services Ltd), Meredith Boden (Transport for London), Peter Campbell (Risk Advantage Consulting Services Ltd), Chris Chapman (University of Southampton), Karl Davey (Strategic Thought Group), Heather Groom (BEAR Analysts), Elaine Harris (De Montfort University), David Hulett (Hulett & Associates), Matthew Leitch (Internal Controls Design), Ken Newland (Quintec Associates Ltd), Stephen Simister (Oxford Management and Research Lid), Terry Williams (University of Southampton).
