About the Author:
Bernard J. Healey, PhD, is a professor of healthcare administration at King’s College in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. Dr. Healey began his career in 1971 as an epidemiologist for the Pennsylvania Department of Health. During his tenure with the government, he earned his master’s in public administration and his doctorate in health education from the University of Pennsylvania. He has taught undergraduate and graduate courses in business, public health, and healthcare administration at several colleges since 1974. He has coauthored five books on various healthcare-related topics and has published more than a hundred articles on public health, health policy, leadership, marketing, and healthcare partnerships. Dr. Healey is a member of the American Public Health Association and of the Association of University Programs in Health Administration. He is a part-time consultant in epidemiology for the Wilkes-Barre City Health Department and a consultant for numerous public health projects in Pennsylvania.
