Unlock the deep truths of Scripture with the classic, time-tested guide to accurate Bible interpretation.
Determining what the Bible means must always come before applying its words to our lives. Without a consistent, trustworthy method for interpreting its passages, the profound truths of God's Word can quickly become blurred, confused, or easily misunderstood.
In Principles of Biblical Hermeneutics, Dr. J. Edwin Hartill delivers an indispensable, systematic blueprint for studying the Bible safely, accurately, and deeply. Drawing from nearly four decades of elite classroom instruction, Dr. Hartill strips away academic intimidation to provide everyday believers, students, and pastors with the exact keys needed to unlock the rich storehouse of Scripture.
Using a highly visual and structured combination of text, clear charts, and systematic outlines, this foundational textbook transforms the "science of hermeneutics" into a practical, highly accessible art.
Key Principles You Will Master:-
The First Mention & Progressive Mention Principles: Discover how God introduces a truth early in Scripture and systematically builds upon it throughout the biblical narrative.
-
The Dispensational & Covenantal Principles: Learn to view Scripture through the grand architecture of God’s distinct historical frameworks and divine agreements.
-
The Context & Agreement Principles: Prevent theological errors by mastering how to evaluate verses in light of their surrounding passages and the harmony of the entire biblical canon.
-
The Typical & Predictive Principles: Safely navigate Old Testament types, shadows, symbols, and prophetic gaps without falling into sensationalism.
-
Visual & Highly Organized: Designed with logic and clarity in mind, utilizing charts and detailed outlines that make dense theological concepts instantly clear and scannable.
-
Classroom-Tested Excellence: Developed and refined through Dr. Hartill's 40 years as a beloved Professor of Bible, ensuring every lesson is succinct, practical, and highly pedagogical.
-
Bite-Sized, Targeted Chapters: Structured around specific rules of interpretation, making it an excellent lifelong reference manual, small group curriculum, or Bible institute textbook.
-
Bridges Theory and Practice: Focuses heavily on how to do the work yourself, moving you from a passive reader to an active, equipped handler of the Word of truth.
"These principles... are succinct, pointed, practical, original, understandable—simple keys to unlock the storehouse of Scripture to things both old and new." — Dr. S. Franklin Logsdon
