Add to basketPrinciples and Application of Local Treatment in Diseases of the Skin is a dermatological treatise by Dr. L. Duncan Bulkley, physician to the New York Skin and Cancer Hospital, published by the Rebman Company of New York. Where Bulkley's companion volume on skin disease and internal disorders argued for a systemic, whole-body understanding of dermatological conditions, this work takes a complementary and more practically applied approach, focusing specifically on the principles governing effective local (topical) treatment of skin disease - addressing the practical selection, formulation, and application of local remedies and therapeutic techniques used directly on affected skin. Taken together with his work on internal disorders, this volume reflects Bulkley's broader dual approach to dermatological practice: treating the whole patient's underlying constitutional health while also mastering the specific, hands-on local therapeutics required for direct skin treatment - a practical complement to the more theoretical, systemic arguments found in his other writings. Condition & Binding: This is a hardcover volume bound in sage-green cloth uniform with Bulkley's other Rebman-published titles, with a maroon leather (or leather-effect) spine label lettered in gilt "LOCAL TREATMENT IN DISEASES OF THE SKIN / BULKLEY," a gilt caduceus emblem stamped below on the spine, and "REBMAN" stamped in gilt at the foot. The spine label shows some wear and a small area of chipping/loss at the head, with the cloth boards showing light overall wear, a few scattered small marks, and light rubbing to the corners and spine ends consistent with age and handling. The text block is tight and complete, with light overall toning to the pages, the "Meyer M. Stark" bookplate present and clean on the front pastedown, and a small pencil shelf code on the facing leaf. Overall- very good.
