Ambition has a cost. Loyalty has a price. Love changes everything.
Alano Carter knows what it means to be overlooked.
Growing up with little but hunger, instinct, and an unshakable determination to become something more, he learns early that opportunity isn't always offered—you take it. Late-night deals become real money. Real money becomes access. And access opens doors to fast cars, jewelry, exclusive rooms, powerful connections, and a lifestyle Alano once could only imagine.
But Alano doesn't simply want to look successful.
He wants an empire.
As his reputation grows, so do the risks. Every deal becomes larger. Every victory attracts more attention. And every person standing beside him must eventually decide whether loyalty has a limit.
Then Alano meets Daniique Mathieu.
Beautiful enough to stop him in his tracks but far too intelligent to be impressed by what he owns, Daniique is unlike the women accustomed to orbiting his increasingly luxurious world. She has ambitions of her own, and the more Alano discovers the woman beneath the beauty, the more dangerous his hunger becomes.
Because this time, he wants something money can't guarantee.
Her.
Their attraction becomes an intense, passionate relationship, and Daniique begins standing beside Alano as an equal while his ambitions reach another level. Together, they experience the intoxicating rewards of success—but money has a way of revealing people.
Small losses become questions.
Questions become suspicion.
And when betrayal comes from somewhere Alano trusted, everything he has built is suddenly at risk.
Money can build an empire.
Power can protect it.
But when love, loyalty, ambition, and betrayal collide, Alano Carter will discover that becoming powerful was never the hardest part.
The hardest part is surviving the price.
The Price of an Empire is Book One of the Carter Empire Novels, a sweeping saga of crime, passionate romance, luxury, ambition, family, power, and the legacy one man will spend a lifetime building.
Every empire starts somewhere. This one starts with hunger.
