Print on Demand. This book lays claim to the inaugural mission by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to the British Isles. Spanning the years 1837-8, when dispatched missionaries Heber C. Kimball and Elder Hyde brought the gospel to England, this book contains the former's account of their challenges, successes, and the foundational work they performed to establish the Church in a new land. The book's account begins as Kimball, an untried apostle, receives his mission. His humility gives way to determination, and he sets forth across the ocean with a faith that will sustain him through trials and propel the Church's growth. His reflections on the doctrines and practices of the Church, such as the Word of Wisdom—the first time it was taught on foreign shores—will be of particular interest to readers. The book's historical significance is evident in its depiction of the Church's humble beginnings in England. The author provides a fascinating glimpse into the motivations of the missionaries, the reception of their message, and the development of the Church during this crucial period. The book offers a unique perspective on the growth of the Church in England and underscores its adherents' commitment to their faith amidst opposition and adversity. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…
