First edition. Duodecimo, 141mm. Physical description, [2],1 -14. All edges gilt. Engraved throughout on the recto's only. Contents very slightly dusty. Contemporary red goatskin, lightly rubbed. the covers with a gilt rolled-tooled border, and the corners with a crown and-scepters tool. Corners bumped. The spine, sometime rebacked with the original original backstrip laid down, four raised bands, the panels with a gilt flower in each. Joints starting. Head and toe of spine with chipped Marbled endpapers. Armorial bookplate of The Right Honourable Earl of Inchquin on the verso of the title page. Overall a very good copy in an attractive binding. Edward Edmonson (d. 1786) Herald and genealogist, he was originally apprenticed to be a barber, but afterwards became a coach-painter, and being much employed in emblazoning coat-armour on carriages was led to the study of heraldry and genealogy, both of which he wrote a number of books.
