Do you want to grow your prayer life, understand biblical fasting, and become more intentional about seeking God?
Pray First: A Biblical Guide to Prayer, Fasting, and Seeking God is a practical Christian prayer and fasting guide designed to help believers understand what the Bible teaches about prayer, fasting, anointing oil, consecration, and seeking God in everyday life.
Whether you are learning how to pray, preparing for a fast, wanting to become more consistent in prayer, or simply longing for a deeper relationship with God, Pray First brings you back to the foundation of it all: God and His Word.
Beginning with Jesus’ teaching on the Lord’s Prayer, Clarissa Hyneman walks readers through prayer as relationship rather than performance. You’ll explore the ACTS prayer model, praying Scripture, listening, confession, thanksgiving, surrendering to God’s will, bringing your needs before Him, and the importance of intercessory prayer and praying for others.
You’ll also explore biblical fasting, including why people fasted in Scripture, different fasting patterns found in the Bible, examples from Jesus, Daniel, Esther, Ezra, and the early church, and practical guidance for approaching a fast with prayer, purpose, and wisdom.
The book also examines what Scripture teaches about anointing oil and consecration, including anointing the sick, being set apart for God’s purposes, and how Christians may approach using anointing oil while praying over themselves, their families, and their homes.
With guided prayers, Scripture, reflection questions, fasting prompts, prayer lists, and dedicated prayer journal pages, Pray First gives you space not only to learn about seeking God, but to actually slow down and seek Him.
Inside, you’ll explore prayer, fasting, and anointing through Scripture while learning how to:
- Build a more intentional and Scripture-centered prayer life
- Use the Lord’s Prayer and ACTS model as guides for prayer
- Pray for others through biblical intercession
- Understand the purpose and different patterns of fasting in Scripture
- Prepare for and reflect on a Christian fast
- Understand anointing oil and consecration from a biblical perspective
- Pray over your family and dedicate your home to God
- Record prayers, Scriptures, reflections, answered prayers, and God’s faithfulness
Pray First is more than a book about spiritual practices. It is an invitation to make seeking God a way of life.
