The Fruchtbringende Gesellschaft (1617-1680, Latin societas fructifera), the Order of the Palm, was the first and, with 890 members, also the largest German language academy. Due to its large number of members from the nobility and imperial princes, it had courtly, political, military and diplomatic connections - The eight-line poem below the depiction - Georg von Kötschau is concealed under the society name 'Der Prangende'.
