John Paul Sifler, Paul John Sifler, born as Pavel Sifler 31. December 1911 in Polhov Gradec (Ljubljana, Slovenia), died 20. may 2001 in Hollywood. American composer, pianist and organist. Sifler's organ and choral works brought him international recognition and his tragic work for organ, "The Despair and Agony of Dachau" has been performed in most of the capitals of Europe and across the United States. Slovenian composer , organist and choirmaster. At the age of 9 he traveled from his native Polhov Gradec to the United States. At the music conservatory in Chicago in 1940 finished his studies in composition and organ. Sifler was an extremely prolific composer. His best known works are for organ and he has composed many songs, often dealing with Slovenia. For example, Slovenian Rhapsody, Slovenian Triptych for piano, Three Preludes on the Slovenian church hymns. He spent the latter part of his life working in Hollywood. Seller Inventory # 008103
