8vo, pp. xiv, 240, xv-xv, [i]. Contemporary half black calf, dark green pebbled cloth boards, spine divided by raised bands between double blind rules, red morocco label. Some scattered soiling and toning. Rubbed, boards marked, some wear to extremities. Binder?s ticket of M. Paterson, Edinburgh, to pastedown. Mrs Williamson ran a cookery school on Dundas Street Edinburgh, and produced this book to complement her lessons, with the first edition in 1849. It received regular updates and reprints for the rest of the century, latterly by her son, with a 22nd edition appearing in 1906.
