Third Edition reprinted from the second. 4to, viii + pp255 plus 64 colour and monochrome plates to rear, most of them double page. Hardcover no dust jacket. Original blue cloth binding with gilt titles to spine and front board along with a gilt vignette of a miner to front board in very good condition with a little shelf wear to top & tail of spine, some rubbing to tips and a few marks to boards. Inside a little foxing to title page and last few plates otherwise all pages in clean and bright condition, the plates themselves are in wonderful condition, bright and clear. A very good tightly bound copy of this study by Greenwell who was one of the founders of the North of England Institute of Mining and Mechanical Engineers, an active member of the Institution of Civil Engineers and a Fellow of the Geological Society of London.

The origins of the business began with Beth's grandmother, Eve Lowell, who started The Dartmoor Bookshop in Ashburton at the back of Beth's grandfathers newsagent shop before moving to her own premises in the town.
