Your printer can make almost anything, so why do your prints keep failing?
Stringing, warping, layer shifts, and weak parts frustrate nearly every beginner. Most of these problems have clear, fixable causes.
INTEREST
The Practical 3D Printing Handbook 2026 is a step-by-step user guide that follows the full journey of a printed object, from digital model to finished product. Written by Adrian B. Sterling, it is organized into six parts and 20 chapters:
- Foundations: how FDM, resin, and powder printing work, how to choose a printer, and how to set up a safe workspace
- Printer Calibration: assembly, bed leveling, flow and temperature tuning, and a symptom-by-symptom troubleshooting guide
- CAD Basics: parametric modeling, three guided design projects, designing for printability, and mesh repair
- Slicer Settings: layer height, walls, infill, supports, speed, and advanced tuning
- Material Optimization: PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA, TPU, nylon, and specialty materials, plus drying, storage, and finishing
- Real-World Applications: prototyping, home and hobby projects, and the basics of pricing and selling your work
