Print on Demand. This book from the late 19th century provides an accessible and engaging exploration of key political issues of the time. It delves into the principles and aims of Liberalism, arguing that every citizen has a duty to aid those they believe to be wise. The author argues that although war may be a remote possibility, and a conscription unlikely, the issues of taxation and justice affect everyone in daily life. The book offers an analysis of the historical background and evolution of Liberalism, and connects this to everyday issues such as local politics and social concerns, placing these within the wider context of the political landscape of the time. The author contends that the details of politics can affect each of us in major ways and encourages involvement to better one's environment and community. This book is important reading for anyone interested in political history and the evolution of Liberalism. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. …

The Articles here republished are from the columns of the Halfpenny to the Proprietors of which the Author is indebted for much courtesy and consideration. They were written originally in the form of letters to a friend, but, though they stand substantially as first printed, various alterations have been made consequent upon the necessities of a permanent rather than a serial form. The Author does not profess to have exhaustively discussed every political question which is of prac 'tical importance to-day - for that, within the limits assigned, would have been impossible but he has attempted to furnish a body of information regarding the principles and aims of present day Liberalism, not easily accessible elsewhere, which may be useful to those whose ideas upon public affairs are yet nu formed, and helpful to the political cause he holds dear.
