Print on Demand. This book delves into the history of forming artificial pupils in the eye to restore vision in patients with opaque corneas. The author, a renowned eye surgeon, presents several case studies of his revolutionary operations, which involved removing a portion of the iris (the colored part of the eye) to create a new pupil. He describes the various techniques he developed to address different corneal opacities and adhesions, including cases where the crystalline lens or its capsule was also opaque. Through detailed accounts of his procedures and their outcomes, the author demonstrates the remarkable advancements made in ophthalmic surgery during his time. His groundbreaking work paved the way for modern-day techniques in artificial pupil formation, solidifying his legacy as a pioneer in the field. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…

A desire, however, to attain such a degree of experience, as might enable me to speak, with confidence, of the results of different operations, has been the principal inducement to delay, till the present time, the publication of what I deem to be, in a great measure.
