Print on Demand. This book presents a plan for language work that uses literature study, observations, and experiences of pupils. It begins with literature selections that appeal to children due to their subject matter and form of expression, and are adapted to the season of the opening of schools, affording an easy correlation of literature, nature study, and language. In observation lessons the thought, feeling, and expression in the literature are used as a foundation to develop language instruction. This book advocates for the use of literature in language lessons, providing a framework for teachers to seamlessly integrate the two subjects. The activities and exercises provided promote the development of oral and written communication skills through storytelling, discussions, compositions, and letter writing. It also recognizes the importance of teaching grammar and usage, offering clear and concise rules for capitalization, punctuation, and parts of speech. By incorporating real-world experiences and literature, this book provides a comprehensive approach to language instruction, helping students develop a strong foundation in language skills and a love of literature. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…

The plan contemplates three years' work, and pupils who leave school at its completion will have a knowledge of the principles that govern the construction of. Sentences and their arrangement in well-written composition.
The treatment is inductive. Special stress is put on oral reproductions and discussions, followed in most cases by written compositions.
Letter writing is presented early in the work and is continued to the close. Models of generally accepted forms are presented, and material is suggested to give practice in their use.
