cription Practical Hooked Rugs Author: Stella Hay Rex Publisher: Prentice-Hall, Inc., New York Date: 1950 Printing: Second printing Format: Hardcover with dust jacket Pagination: 173 pages Condition: Good book / Good dust jacket Second printing of Stella Hay Rex’s practical guide to the design, materials, and techniques of traditional hooked rugs. Published by Prentice-Hall in 1950, this standard-format hardcover offers instruction for rug hookers and readers interested in American folk art, textile crafts, domestic arts, decorative design, and mid-century handicraft publishing. The book is illustrated and includes practical discussion of design, color, texture, and technique—the core elements emphasized in Rex’s later expanded work, Choice Hooked Rugs. This 173-page edition should be distinguished from shorter booklet-format works and later editions or reprints that may appear in online catalogues under similar titles. It is a useful period reference for collectors of rug-hooking books, needlework, handmade rugs, folk-art textiles, and vintage craft instruction. Condition: Good in a Good dust jacket. The book is complete and structurally sound, but there is a discolored patch on the rear cover corresponding to slight waviness in that area of the pages. The dust jacket is present and shows considerable wear and discoloration on rear cover. It is structurally sound though, hence the good rating. Please examine photos.…

Store description
I unearth paper treasures for your reading pleasure. I started selling books when my father left me his vintage paperback collection, almost 25 years ago. I grade condition conservatively and do my best to convey all flaws, and to respond quickly to questions. When issues arise, I do my best to come up with solutions that keep both parties happy. When I'm not panning for gold in thrift stores and estate sales, I'm listening to records, hanging out with my family, or playing tabletop games.
