Item description from seller

Cover & spine & edges, spine ends worn. Front board almost loose. Back board slightly loosened. Title page rather speckled with age. Rest of text is in great shape with some sporadic speckles/browning. A significant late‑17th‑century London printing of A Practical Discourse Concerning a Future Judgment by William Sherlock, D.D., one of the most influential Anglican theologians of the Restoration and post‑Restoration period. Sherlock’s writings on morality, eschatology, and Christian duty were widely read across Britain and the American colonies, shaping Protestant thought for generations. This 1699 edition, printed “by R. R. for W. Rogers, at the Sun, over‑against St. Dunstan’s Church in Fleetstreet,” is an authentic example of London theological printing at the end of the 1600s. The volume retains its original full leather binding and includes an important piece of provenance: the bookplate of Thomas, Earl of Kinnoull, a Scottish noble family with deep political and ecclesiastical connections. A complete, unrestored, historically rich example of early English religious literature. 🎯 Ideal For Collectors of 17th‑century theology Enthusiasts of early Anglican and Protestant literature Provenance collectors (Scottish nobility, aristocratic libraries) Libraries and archives building pre‑1700 English collections Resellers specializing in early leather‑bound religious works 🌟 Why It Matters 1699 printing — genuinely early and increasingly scarce William Sherlock was a major figure in Anglican apologetics Fleet Street imprint — a hallmark of serious theological publishing Provenance: Thomas, Earl of Kinnoull — adds historical and collector value Original leather binding with strong period character Cross‑collectible: religion, British history, aristocratic libraries.
