Print on Demand. This book equips you with the foundational knowledge required to perform qualitative analysis. It takes you through various chemical experiments and tests that enable you to identify the presence of specific elements in a given substance. Understanding how to distinguish between different elements helps you determine the composition of unknown substances, which is an essential skill in studying a wide range of natural and man-made materials. The book has an easy-to-follow layout starting from basic concepts and progressing toward more complex analytical methods. Whether you're a student or a practicing professional, this book provides a comprehensive guide to qualitative analysis. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.

The second part is devoted to methods of Analysis. Here he is first instructed in the properties of a few of the constituents of common salts, and is taught methods for their separation or identification in presence of one another. If he goes no further than this he will at least have learnt what chemical analysis means. He afterwards proceeds to extend his knowledge, till at the end of the course he will be able to analyse any mixture of ordinary inorganic substances.
The analytical part is to a great extent shorn of directions for manipulation, as well as of details which are not relevant to the immediate object of the experiment. According to my experience these are not only of no use, but are a positive hindrance to the apprehension of the facts to be acquired. Manipulation can only be learnt properly under personal instruction by a competent teacher, and more will be accomplished by letting the beginner see once for all how a thing is to be done than by whole volumes of printed directions.
