Item description from seller

Undated but believed to be circa 1900. L. Upcott Gill. A Hardback in Very Good condition. Publisher's original green boards with design and lettering in black and gilt to front and spine. Decorated endpapers. Illustrated with five folding plates all of which present, two plates both present, and numerous illustrations within the text throughout. Publisher's advertisements at rear. Some wear/softening at spine ends and slight rubbing/marks to back board; bumping to corners. Spine a little loose but remains tight, and hinges and gutters firm. Mild age-toning and a little foxing, otherwise pages basically clean and unmarked. Without inscriptions. Edgewear and toning/foxing to some of the five folding plates, one has some tiny chips to its outer edge, another has some splits along its own fold lines and an open (closeable) chip at the point where four folds meet. Overall though, for its age, this is a very well preserved and presentable volume with beautiful cover design, externally very smart, and pages which are basically clean and unmarked.…
