Jewett & Co.; Buffalo: Phinney & Co.; Cleveland: Knight, King & Co.; Cincinnati: Applegate & Co.; Circleville: A. Beach & Co.; Chicago: Keene & Bro.; St. Louis: E.K. Woodward, and Keith & Woods. Faint writing by former owner on endpapers. The author, John Fair Stoddard (1825-1873), is identified on the title page as principal of the University of Northern Pennsylvania, which opened in Bethany, Pa., in 1850; he was later on the faculty at Millersville University.
